The latest report from Strategy Analytics says that microSD format is dominating the mobile phone market. According to Strategy Analytics the microSD has rapidly become the format of choice for new mobile phones, in competition with MMCmicro and Sony’s new format, Memory Stick Micro.
Over the next five years, sales of mobile phones with memory card slots are expected to grow at an annual average rate of 52 %, with almost three-quarters of all new phones sold in 2010 likely to include a memory card slot. Mobile phone, with memory card slot, sales between 2004 and 2005 achieved a 160 %. Meanwhile, sales of memory cards for mobile phones are expected to grow at a rate of 53 % over the next five years, reaching almost 1.1 billion memory cards by 2010.In 2005 the average storage capacity of memory cards sold for use in mobile phones was 112 MB per card. By 2010 it is predicted that this will have increased to around 1.6 GB, equivalent to an annual average growth rate of over 70 %.

The new HDPS-L1 has a hard disk drive of 80 GB and supports the following flash memory card formats. Memory Stick, Memory Stick PRO, Memory Stick Duo, Memory Stick PRO Duo, CompactFlash, MultiMediaCard, SD Memory Card and xD-Picture Card.
It has about half the size of a typical DVD player and has a wireless remote control. The photo album is featuring eight slideshow styles with image transitions synchronized to pre- installed background music and high-definition video output. It automatically sorts picture files by their creation date. It also provides the option to group images by type.
It supports the JPEG or Sony RAW image formats and by pressing the one-touch copy button you can download files to and from the memory card. In addition to storing files, this device can write to any of the supported memory cards. The HDPS-L1 photo storage device will be available in May 2006 for about $300.

SanDisk introduced its high-performance Ultra II Mobile line of flash memory cards for mobile phones. The new line consists of three memory card formats: microSD, miniSD and Memory Stick PRO Duo. The introduction of Memory Stick PRO Duo was actually announced on February 26.
The Ultra II Mobile line provides a combination of high transfer speed, low energy consumption and high storage capacity for meeting the demand of the new mobile phones with integrated MP3 players and high-resolution digital cameras.
The Ultra II memory cards have faster read and write speeds than standard flash memory cards, the minimum write speed is 9 MB/sec and read speed 10 MB/sec, and will have extended warranties in all regions of the world. The cards will be offered only in high capacities, ranging from 1 GB to 4 GB.
The Ultra II Mobile line will be available in mobile phone stores and other retailers in spring 2006. The suggested retail prices are listed below:
