Xbox 360 Memory Unit

The Xbox 360 Memory Unit is a memory card standard specifically designed to be used by the Xbox 360 game console. Like any other memory card it is based on flash memory technology and requires no additional setup for being used. The Xbox 360 game console has 2 Memory Card slots and in contrast to the older Xbox the slots can be found on the console itself and not on the game controllers.

The Xbox 360 Memory Card is limited to being compatible only to the Xbox 360 game consol and there are no memory card readers available supporting this Memory Card. Since the Xbox360 Memory Unit is manly used for saving game profiles and in-game achievements, there is no need for being connected to a computer. Still you are able in storing other files on the memory unit, like audio and video files, but its small storage capacity does not allowing it to be used for such things. The Xbox 360 Memory Unit can be found with the storage capacity of 64 MB. According to Microsoft the Memory Card has been designed for larger storage capacities, therefore we can expect seeing larger storage capacities in the future.

Thanks to the Xbox 360’s USB ports you can use your USB Memory Drive for storing and then playing your audio or video files on the Xbox 360 game console. That way you get around the Memory Unit’s low memory capacity and do not need to get a memory card that only is compatible with the Xbox 360 game consol.
